High School-Aged Teens
Are You Ready to Get to Work?
If you are in high school and thinking about working—or eager to get more out of work—Success Spoken Here is written primarily for you. At your age, typically, young adults can begin to determine their own path in life, maybe for the first time. What are you waiting for?
Your Guide to Success
The book will help you every step of the way, including once you begin working:
- Things to think about before starting your job search
- The job search
- Contacting companies
- Accepting and declining offers
- Praparing for Day One on the job
- Behaviors to pursue—and avoid—on the job
- And that is just in Part I, there is much more in to Part II.
What's in it for Your?
A part time job can be a great way to enhance your high-school experience, and not just because of the money you will earn.
Get Started Creating a Great Future You
School is great for meeting people and learning, but as they say, it is all so "academic". A part-time job will expose you to another world, with real people who have real needs and who want real solutions. This is an exciting place to be. Instead of only burying your head in books—or video games—you can begin meeting interesting people and doing interesting things.
With a part time job, you can begin creating a better future you.
On-the-Job Training May be Inadequate
But, to get the most out of your part-time position, don't just depend on your employer to train you. Many companies see teens as easy to hire and easy to fire, so they do not invest much in training them. Self-study will prepare you for greater success in the workplace and toward more satisfaction with your job.
Do You Dislike the Job You Have?
Don't get stuck in a boring job working with people you do not like. Even with your entire future ahead of you, life is too short for that. Learn to identify and obtain a great entry-level job. Then, by reading the book, enhance your impact at work by learning to host customers, instead of merely waiting on them.
Get a Good Job, Improve Your Life
How do companies succeed? By helping customers succeed. By learning and embracing this tenet early in your work experience, your working life might become much more interesting and fulfilling. What is more, your pursuits will be more impactful. You will get more out of working yourself, and your workplace (and customers) will get more out of your efforts. All of which adds up to more enthusiasm for you about work, and enthusiasm is the fuel that drives success.
